Henry Cross

Executive Director

Henry Cross grew up in sunny Miami, Florida. Upon graduating high school, he moved to the politicized Washington, D.C. and double majored in History and Politics at the Catholic University. He served as a social studies teacher in Prince George’s County Public School in 2008-2009. In the fall of 2009, he moved to New York City to continue and grow his work in education and service.

He joined Hosh Yoga in 2011 as a teacher and Program Director. And since 2013, he founded and expanded programming for the organization with Hosh Kids and Hosh Seniors. Henry's entrepreneurial spirit helped developed the organizational, program, and financial capacity of the nonprofit to deliver self-sustaining and self-supporting health and wellness services to over 3,000 children, adults, and seniors every month in a cost-effective and fairly-priced way. And from 2014 to 2016, he participated in a philanthropic role by expanding the programming, policy, and public advocacy efforts of the Sonima Foundation as Community Relations Director.

His work has been featured by the Huffington PostElephant JournalBlog Talk RadioThe NYC Social Innovation FestivalSocial Venture Institute, and multiple Brooklyn and Queens newspapers. He is an appointed New York City official of Community Board 5 in Queens, serves on a Department of Youth and Community Development Neighborhood Advisory Board, and on the board of directors of the Ridgewood Property Owners and Civic Association. And in 2015, Henry was selected as an etsy.org business fellow and awarded Top 40 Under 40 Nonprofit Rising Star. He finds joy in his community work service everyday and loves ballroom dancing!

Michael Kinnan

Studio Director

Michael began his physical practice 7 years ago in hopes of healing work-related injuries. And it worked! Along the way, he began integrating Marma Therapy in which he became certified at ISHTA Yoga with Alan Finger in 2016. His primary yoga teacher, Hannah Harpole of Bushwick's Makara, then encouraged him to study in Goa, India for his 200 RYT. The Iyengar-style training launched his obsession with prop-assisted, alignment-based sequencing and piqued his interest in Pranayama. Since arriving in New York City, Michael has served this city as an artist and hospitality expert in the retail, fashion, and restaurant industries. His management credits also include Director of theatre productions and corporate boutiques - training and uniting teams toward a common aim of physical and mental wellness.

Michael is thrilled to be integrating his expertise to serve the Hosh Community as cheerleader, liaison and advocate. You will probably find him around the neighborhood on his bicycle or walking (let's face it, more likely dancing) down the street to 80s synth-pop. He cannot seem to help it. Michael is also creator and producer of the one-person rendition of James Cameron's Titanic entitled Never Let Go

BOARD of Directors

Yuuki Hirano

Board Chairman

Yuuki Hirano joined as a co-founder of Hosh Yoga in 2009. His passion for well being and social equality is what drives his ambitions with Hosh. He started off as a teacher then as a manager, a director and is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors. Yuuki's journey started during his undergraduate studies, majoring in philosophy, this is where he was first introduced to yoga. Unbeknownst to him this interest in mental, emotional and physical well being would catapult him to where he is now.

Yuuki believes now, more than ever, that grassroots efforts are what are going to move communities, neighborhoods and humanity forward. To create a greater social impact it begins with the self. If each person can become more aware of themselves, their well being and impact on the world, the choices that are made may begin to change. The way we interact and support each other can shift. Yuuki's hope is that Hosh creates both a space for this to take place, furthermore facilitating the supporting opportunities to bring space to neighborhoods, communities and people who need it the most.

Michael Rodriguez

Director of Finance

Michael was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago and his career in finance has relocated him from the Midwest to San Jose, Costa Rica; Austin, Texas; and currently New York City. At an early age, his passion for health, wellness, and giving back to the community grew through his involvement with his parent’s non-profit soccer club: Fox Valley Warriors. His parents’ selfless service was an inspiration that cultivated his confidence and knowledge to truly impact the lives of those that surrounded him both on and off the soccer field.

In 2017, Michael was introduced to Hosh when seeking an opportunity to apply his strategic and financial knowledge he had ascertained through his career in finance with Pfizer. After talking with Henry about the mission and vision of the organization, Michael immediately saw the opportunity to grow the business and further serve the Greater New York City community. Michael currently is the Director of Finance for Hosh Yoga and the Finance Committee Chair for Hosh Kids’ Board of Directors. If you have any financial questions regarding either organization, feel free to reach out to him. Additionally, he is always eager to help anybody who might seek financial consultations on their business ventures.
